an irresistible impulse: September 25 - October 22, 2011


Exhibit Dates: September 25 - October 22, 2011
Reception: Saturday, October 22 from 6-9pm

The theme of the exhibition focuses on compulsion and the various ways in which artists address this in their work. Whether dealing with a singular consuming idea or through the use of repetitive processes, “An Irresistible Impulse” presents a romanticized look at the artistic practice.

EVENTS:

Cup a Coffee Sundays (Oct 2, 9, 16, 1-3pm)
Stop in for a cup of coffee and casual conversation with select participating artists. A Great opportunity for one on one discussion and a chance to watch John Corbin build on his evolving installation

Make a Butter Button -drop in workshop (Sat, Oct 8, 1-3pm)
In conjunction with ADN's Detroit Gallery Week. Come by to make your own custom Butter Button. Free and family friendly, no RSVP required.

Year Three

We're excited to begin our third exhibit season. Following "nude" which was themed around the body and brought together by a unified palette, "an irresistible impulse" takes attention to detail one step further as it investigates compulsion in the artistic practice.
